"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15). It's one of the most quoted verses in Christian marriage — and one of the easiest to admire without practicing. We picture a household serving the Lord and imagine something grand. But in real life, faithfulness in a home is built from small, repeated things.
Deuteronomy 6 gives the pattern: talk about God's words "when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Not a weekly event — a daily rhythm. A verse on the bathroom mirror. A short prayer before the day scatters you. Gratitude spoken out loud at dinner instead of just thought.
You don't need an hour-long devotional to build an altar in your home. You need five honest minutes, repeated. Couples who pray together — even briefly, even clumsily — build a shared spiritual language that carries them through the seasons when feelings run thin.
